Ley 52 de 1990 · por la cual se establece la estructura orgánica Marco del Ministerio de Gobierno; se determinan las funciones de sus dependencias, se dictan otras disposiciones y se conceden unas facultades extraordinarias.

Son funciones del Ministro, además de las que le señalan la Constitución y las leyes, las siguientes:

a)

Fijar políticas, dirigir y orientar la formulación de los planes, programas y proyectos de desarrollo del sector Gobierno;

b)

Orientar y coordinar la gestión de todas las dependencias del Ministerio;

c)

Coordinar las entidades que pertenecen al Sector;

d)

Velar porque las entidades que pertenecen al Sector Gobierno, cumplan las normas legales y reglamentarias pertinentes;

e)

Evaluar los resultados de la gestión del Ministerio y de las entidades adscritas.
