El titular de una licencia de conducción podrá solicitar ante un organismo de tránsito o la entidad pública o privada por él autorizada, la recategorización de su licencia, para lo cual debe presentar y aprobar un nuevo examen teórico-práctico para la categoría solicitada y presentar un certificado de aptitud en conducción otorgado por el centro respectivo, y su trámite no podrá durar más de 72 horas una vez aceptada la documentación.
