MUSEO NACIONAL DE COLOMBIA. El Museo Nacional de Colombia cumplirá las siguientes funciones:

1. Investigar, organizar, conservar, incrementar, publicar y divulgar las colecciones del patrimonio histórico y cultural mueble del país, que forman parte de los museos del Instituto y coordinar sus actividades.

2. Diseñar y ejecutar programas nacionales de desarrollo de los museos en lo relacionado con la conservación, exhibición, seguridad, investigación y divulgación cultural.

3. Asesorar al Consejo de Monumentos Nacionales en las materias que éste requiera.

4. Las demás que le asigne la ley, los reglamentos y la Junta Directiva y que correspondan a la naturaleza de la dependencia.
