Artículo segundo. Cuando los contratos de trabajo de la gente de mar se hayan terminado a causa de la pérdida del buque, cualquiera que ella sea, la gente del mar recibirá además del auxilio de cesantía y demás prestaciones correspondientes, una indemnización igual al salario por los días del período efectivo de desempleo resultante de dicha pérdida, sin pasar de dos (2) meses de salario o las indemnizaciones previstas en el artículo 8º del Decreto 2351 de 1965, a su elección.
