Auditoría de certificación. Una vez aprobado e implementado el Plan de Protección del buque o de la instalación portuaria, la autoridad designada procederá a verificar su cumplimiento, por medio de la auditoría de certificación, y en caso favorable, expedirá el respectivo Certificado Internacional de Protección del buque o la Declaración de Cumplimiento de la Instalación Portuaria, según corresponda, por un período máximo de cinco (5) años. Durante este periodo, los buques a través de sus compañías y las instalaciones portuarias realizarán las acciones que consideren eficaces y eficientes, para seguir demostrando que su Sistema de Protección Marítima continúa cumpliendo con lo establecido por el Código PBIP, y la regulación Nacional que en materia de Protección Marítima expida la autoridad designada.
