Características . La joya es de plata, de cuarenta (40) milímetros de diámetro. Tiene grabado en su anverso el Escudo de Colombia, encerrado en una corona de laurel y en su reverso el nombre del cuerpo de tropa, base o repartición al cual pertenezca el agraciado, la fecha y la leyenda: Medalla Militar "Soldado Juan Bautista Solarte Obando", Va suspendida de una cinta de cuarenta (40) milímetros de ancho, con los colores amarillo, azul y rojo. Las veneras y miniaturas serán de acuerdo con lo estipulado en el artículo 8° del presente decreto.
