Creada mediante Decreto 1880 del 12 de septiembre de 1988, para premiar y reconocer los méritos de quienes denoten un sobresaliente espíritu marinero y aquellos que se destaquen en el cabal cumplimiento de sus deberes en las unidades de superficie de la Armada Nacional. Ostenta una sola categoría
