Origen. Creada mediante Resolución número 00236 del 4 de septiembre de 1980 del Comando del Ejército y reglamentada por el Decreto 1880 de 1988, para distinguir a quienes se hayan caracterizado por sus servicios eminentes en el mantenimiento de la mística y tradiciones que nos legaron los lanceros de la Campaña Libertadora.
