Jefatura del Departamento . La dirección del Departamento en sus áreas de inteligencia, protección, investigación y seguridad rural, extranjería, recursos humanos, administración y docencia es función y responsabilidad del Jefe del Departamento, quien la ejercerá con la colaboración inmediata del Subjefe, el Secretario General, el Director General de Inteligencia y los Directores. Las decisiones inmediatas y urgentes relativas al servicio de seguridad, serán impartidas en su orden por el Jefe del Departamento, el Subjefe, el Director General de Inteligencia, el Jefe de la Oficina de Inspección General, los Directores de Protección e Investigación y Seguridad Rural.
