Art. 12.º Las recompensas que se otorguen con motivo de servicios prestados á la causa de la Independencia, sólo favorecen á los militares que sirvieron á dicha causa desde 1810 hasta 1826, inclusive, y en la Marina de guerra hasta 1827; respecto de ellos ó de quienes sus derechos representen, la recompensa unitaria definitiva se hará efectiva cualquiera que fuere el tiempo que sirvieron en aquella época, siendo para el caso abonables las campañas hechas y las acciones de guerra tenidas por los militares colombianos en la república del Perú.
