El área del contrato de concesión será aquella que durante la licencia de exploración hubiere escogido el beneficiario para adelantar las obras y trabajos de explotación, dentro de los linderos originales, de acuerdo con el artículo 37 del Código de Minas. Esta área será contratada como cuerpo cierto, identificada por los linderos correspondientes y no por unidades de extensión, aunque éstas figuren en el contrato.
