En desarrollo del artículo 76, literal a) del Acto Legislativo número 1 de 1968, y para facilitar la ejecución presupuestal, distinguiendo además las funciones de contabilidad y auditoría, el Ministerio de Hacienda y Crédito Público, a través de la Dirección General del Presupuesto, llevará la contabilidad general de la Nación.
