El servicio de que trata el artículo anterior se considerará como una de las alternativas del servicio social del estudiantado establecido por el decreto 2059 de 1962, con una duración de 72 horas distribuidas así: 22 horas para la preparación técnico-teórica y 50 horas para la práctica. El servicio nacional ambiental se podrá prestar en programas organizados específicamente para el efecto, o en instituciones que tengan programas apropiados de acción o de investigación en las áreas de ecología.
