Los Sargentos primeros que tengan quince (15) años de servicios en el Ejercito podrán, a solicitud propia, ser llamados a examen para ascenso a subtenientes de reserva, examen que se llevara a cabo en la Escuela Militar o una Escuela de aplicación de su arma.

Parágrafo

Para obtener el ascenso es requisito indispensable haber sido aprobado en el examen correspondiente, y una vez ascendidos serán retirados del servicio activo con el sueldo de retiro de Sargento primero.
