Ejercicio de la profesión. El optómetra que ejerza la profesión requerirá de su tarjeta profesional. Los profesionales que al 3 de junio de 1997, fecha de la promulgación de la Ley 372 de 1997 ostentaren solamente el registro profesional vigente, para optar por la tarjeta profesional deberán actualizar y acreditar la nivelación correspondiente y así poder prestar los servicios en la misma forma y con el mismo alcance en que lo hacen los nuevos profesionales.
