Ley 56 de 1944 · Por la cual se estimula y auxilia el establecimiento y desarrollo de las bibliotecas departamentales

Con el fin de estimular el establecimiento y desarrollo de las bibliotecas departamentales, el Gobierno Nacional concederá un auxilio de quinientos pesos ($ 500.00) moneda legal mensuales, para el sostenimiento de las instituciones mencionadas, que a partir de la vigencia de la presente ley, reúnan las condiciones siguientes:

Contar con un acervo de diez mil volúmenes por lo menos;

Funcionar la biblioteca en edificio adecuado al servicio que se presenta, y que sea de propiedad departamental, y

Tendrá clasificados y catalogados técnicamente por el sistema decimal Melvil Dewey, los volúmenes existentes hasta el número de diez mil.
