El estudio de impacto ambiental es un instrumento para la toma de decisiones y para la planificación ambiental, exigido por la autoridad ambiental para definir las correspondientes medidas de prevención, corrección, compensación y mitigación de impactos y efectos negativos de un proyecto, obra o actividad.
