Los Jefes y Comisarios de Investigación e Inspectores de Permanencia pasaran el mismo día o dentro de los tres siguientes al en que reciban el denuncio de un delito o tengan conocimiento de su perpetración, las primeras diligencias de prevención que hayan practicado al Jefe o Inspector de Policía del territorio dentro del cual se haya cometido el hecho, y cesara su intervención en ellas, previo aviso al Director General, quien puede disponer que el Prefecto de Policía Judicial o uno de los Jefes o Comisarios de Investigación, continúe el sumario hasta perfeccionarlo y remitirlo al Juez competente.
