El número de cualquier documento de identificación que expidan las entidades públicas será el asignado a las personas por el Servicio Nacional de Inscripción, de conformidad con lo dispuesto en el artículo 65 del Decreto-ley 1260 de 1970. Las características de la numeración serán determinadas por el Servicio Nacional de Inscripción, con la aprobación del Gobierno Nacional.
