El Fondo de Garantías de Instituciones Financieras cuya creación se hizo por la Ley 117 de 1985, tiene un término de duración indefinido y permanecerá anexo al Banco de la República, por un plazo no superior a cinco (5) años, contados a partir de la publicación en el DIARIO OFICIAL del contrato para el funcionamiento del Fondo celebrado entre el Banco de la República y el Gobierno Nacional.
