La Distinción Nacional del Medio Ambiente que por este Decreto se establece, se podrá conferir en las siguientes modalidades: Distinción a la vida y obra en pro del conocimiento, protección y conservación del medio ambiente; distinción a un proyecto institucional para la defensa y protección del medio ambiente, y distinción a un proyecto de iniciativa ciudadana en la gestión ambiental.
