Origen. Creada mediante el artículo 107 del Decreto 1880 de 1988 en concordancia con el artículo 47 del Decreto 1776 de 1979, Reglamento Régimen Disciplinario para las Fuerzas Militares, de esa época, como mérito académico para estimular a los Alumnos de la Escuela Militar de Cadetes “General José María Córdova” que se destaquen por su excelente rendimiento académico, conducta, iniciativa e interés por el servicio.
