La Policía Nacional, es un Cuerpo Armado, eminentemente técnico de personal jerarquizado que hace parte de la fuerza pública con régimen y disciplina especiales, bajo la inmediata dirección y mando del Ministro de Defensa Nacional, y tiene por objeto la función de prevenir la perturbación del orden y de tutelar los derechos ciudadanos.
