En el caso de los edificios, infraestructura, acervos, dotaciones, libros, documentos u otros bienes de las bibliotecas públicas declarados como Bienes de Interés Cultural, se aplicará adicionalmente el Régimen Especial de Protección regulado en la Ley 1185 de 2008 . El Ministerio de Cultura podrá establecer reglamentaciones especiales, dentro del señalado régimen, para los acervos bibliográficos.
