El Centro Jorge Eliécer Gaitán creado por el Decreto 087 de 1976 será a partir de esta Ley una fundación o institución de utilidad común dedicada a la investigación, formación y divulgación científica y cultural, dotada de personería jurídica, autonomía administrativa, patrimonio independiente, adscrita al Ministerio de Educación Nacional, la cual tendrá como domicilio principal la ciudad de Bogotá.
