La Superintendencia de Puertos y Transporte es un organismo de carácter administrativo y técnico, adscrito al Ministerio de Transporte, que goza de autonomía administrativa y financiera encargada de cumplir las funciones previstas en la Ley 01 de 1991 y las delegadas en el Decreto 101 del 2 de febrero de 2000, como se determinan más adelante.
