Origen . Creada mediante Decreto número 803 de 1952 y reglamentada por los Decretos números 55 de 1963 (enero 11), 581 de 1975 (marzo 31) y Decreto 1880/88, con el fin de recompensar a los miembros de las Fuerzas Militares que, prestando sus servicios en Orden Público, en función del mismo, sobresalgan por una acción distinguida de valor, fuera del común cumplimiento del deber.
