- SUPRESION DE MUNICIPIOS. Las Asambleas Departamentales podrán suprimir aquellos municipios de menos de tres mil (3.000) habitantes y cuyo presupuesto de rentas haya sido en los dos años inmediatamente anteriores inferior a la mitad del valor de los gastos de funcionamiento del municipio. En este caso, será oído el concepto del Gobernador antes de expedirse la respectiva ordenanza, en la cual se expresará claramente a qué municipio o municipios limítrofes se agrega el territorio del que se elimina (Ley 136 de 1994, art. 20).
