Investigación sobre bosques. Las Corporaciones, en asocio con los Institutos de Apoyo Científico del SINA, realizarán investigaciones sobre los bosques que puedan ser materia de aprovechamiento, con el fin de conocer su abundancia, densidad, endemismo, vulnerabilidad, resiliencia y rareza de las especies, los cuales servirán de soporte para permitir, autorizar, promover el uso o vedar el aprovechamiento de las especies forestales y de la flora.

Igualmente, establecerán tablas de volúmenes básicos para los cálculos volumétricos.
