Retiro. Retiro de las Fuerzas Militares es la situación en que por disposición del Gobierno para Oficiales o del Comando de la respectiva Fuerza para sus Suboficiales, unos y otros, sin perder su grado militar, cesan en la obligación de prestar servicio en actividad, salvo en los casos de reincorporación, llamamiento especial al servicio o movilización.
