INGRESO Y ASCENSO. Para ingresar a la Policía Nacional como Oficial o Suboficial, es condición indispensable, ser soltero y colombiano de nacimiento, acreditar calidades morales, intelectuales, físicas y además cumplir las exigencias específicas determinadas por la Dirección General de la Policía Nacional. El ascenso de los Oficiales de la Policía se dispone por el Gobierno y el de los Suboficiales por la Dirección General de la Policía Nacional, de acuerdo con las normas del presente estatuto.
