El Instituto Colombiano de la Juventud y el Deporte es el máximo organismo estatal rector del deporte aficionado y profesional en Colombia y como tal fijará las políticas sobre educación física, deportes, recreación deportiva y espectáculos deportivos a nivel nacional y ejercerá el control de tutela sobre todos los entes constituidos para tales fines.
