El sueldo de actividad se divide en sueldo de presente y ausente. El sueldo de presente difiere según las circunstancias siguientes: 1ª En guarnición en tiempo de paz; 2ª En marcha en tiempo de guerra; 3ª En comisión; 4ª En uso de Letras de Cuartel ó de licencia indefinida, según el caso de retiro ó de invalidez. El sueldo de ausente se modifica: 1° Por la licencia temporal; 2° Por licencia indefinida; 3° Por enfermedad; 4° Por licencia de convalescencia; 5° Por prisión; 6° Por cautividad.
