Art. 26. Si las necesidades preferentes del servicio público i la escasez de los ingresos obligaren al Poder Ejecutivo a suipender, por algún tiempo, el pago de los intereses de la deuda esterior, el Banco se ocupará también, por vía de compensacion, i con fondos que le serán trasmitidos por la Tesorería jeneral, de amortizar en el curso de cada año de suspension hasta cincuenta mil libras esterlinas (£ 50,000), siguiendo para la aplicacion del pago del capital o de los intereses las órdenes del Poder Ejecutivo.
