Art 3° Los empleados de la Oficina de Longitudes procederán á determinar las coordenadas geográficas de las principales poblaciones de la República, refiriéndolas a todas al meridiano observatorio Astronómico nacional, con el fin de obtener el mayor número de puntos cardinales que sirvan de base a las operaciones de pormenor de la carta, así como para la rectificación de las distancias geográficas que hay entre las citadas poblaciones.
