La presente ley tiene por objeto reconocer, impulsar, promover y proteger el Viche/Biche y sus derivados como bebidas ancestrales, artesanales, tradicionales y como patrimonio colectivo de las comunidades negras, afrocolombianas de la costa del pacífico colombiano, e impulsar el aprovechamiento cultural y económico de su producción por parte de estas comunidades. Así como impulsar la implementación del Plan Especial de Salvaguardia del Paisaje Cultural Vichero/Bichero y los saberes y tradiciones asociadas al Viche/Biche como Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Nación.
