Son funciones de los Consejos Profesionales Seccionales de Economía, las siguientes:

Velar por el cumplimiento de las leyes y reglamentos que regulen la profesión de economista;

Denunciar ante las autoridades competentes las violaciones comprobadas de las disposiciones que reglamenten el ejercicio de la Economía, y solicitar de aquellas la imposición de las sancionadas correspondientes e informar sobre el particular al Consejo Nacional Profesional de Economía.
