En la providencia mediante la cual se retire a un funcionario que preste sus servicios en el exterior, se deberá indicar la fecha en que tal retiro se produce. Si no se expresa dicha fecha, surtirá electos dos meses después de su comunicación. No obstante, en caso de destitución o cuando por razones especiales contempladas en el derecho o los usos y costumbres internacionales se requiera el retiro o el traslado de un funcionario, tal providencia surtirá efectos inmediatos.
