Desde la vigencia de la presente ley, los límites del departamento de Nariño con la región oriental, serán los siguientes: desde el centro del Bordoncillo, en la Cordillera Oriental, por el páramo de San Antonio y el ramal de Cordillera que divide las aguas que van al Putumayo de las que van al lago La Cocha y rio Guamués, hasta el volcán de Patascoy; de allí, por el rio Patascoy, aguas abajo, hasta su confluencia con el rio Guamués; de allí, en línea recta, a la fuente principal del rio Churuyaco; y por este, aguas abajo, hasta su confluencia con el rio san miguel, límite con el Ecuador.
