Denominase ascenso el movimiento de que es objeto un funcionario cuando pasa a desempeñar un empleo de mayor jerarquía que se encuentre vacante y para el cual se tiene establecida una asignación superior, con cambio de funciones. En caso de ascenso, el empleado pasa al sueldo inmediatamente superior del grupo que le corresponda según el caso, más una categoría.
