En sus estatutos los partidos deberán establecer los siguientes principios:

Libertad de afiliación y participación de los afiliados en las decisiones relativas a la orientación ideológica y programática del partido y en la selección de sus autoridades y candidatos. También deberán otorgar a los afiliados el derecho a fiscalizar la gestión de los dirigentes del partido y, en general, las actividades de éste;

Sometimiento expreso de sus actividades a la Constitución y a las leyes;

Publicidad de su régimen patrimonial y contable y del de Auditoría Interna.
