El Fondo de Promoción de Exportaciones (PROEXPO), creado por el Decreto-Ley 444 de 1967, como una persona jurídica autónoma, es una empresa comercial del Estado, con el carácter de establecimiento de crédito, anexo al Banco de la República y administrado por éste, cuyo Gerente es el representante legal del Fondo. Para la coordinación de sus actividades con la política general del Gobierno, el Fondo se halla vinculado al Ministerio de Desarrollo Económico.
