Se entiende por profesión paramédica de microbiólogo y laboratorista clínico, la aplicación de procedimientos o métodos que sirvan de ayuda al médico en el diagnóstico, pronóstico, prevención y tratamiento de las enfermedades. Laboratorio clínico indica la instalación correcta de exámenes, análisis o pruebas a las diferentes muestras obtenidas con fines de ayuda diagnóstica.
