CARACTERÍSTICAS DE LA JOYA. La Medalla "Soldado Juan Bautista Solarte Obando" es de plata, de cuarenta (40) milímetros de diámetro. Tiene grabado en su anverso el Escudo de Colombia, encerrado en una corona de laurel; y en su reverso el nombre del Cuerpo de Tropa, Base o Repartición al cual pertenezca el agraciado, la fecha y la leyenda: Medalla Militar "Soldado Juan Bautista Solarte Obando". Va suspendida de una cinta de cuarenta (40) milímetros de ancho, con los colores nacionales.
