ORIGEN. La Medalla Militar "Soldado Juan Bautista Solarte Obando", fue establecida en el artículo 48 del Reglamento de Régimen Disciplinario FF. MM., Decreto 1776 de 1979, como premio al Soldado o Grumete que en cada Contingente, en cada Unidad Táctica o en cada establecimiento terrestre de las Fuerzas Militares, se destaque por su excelente conducta, virtudes militares, aprovechamiento en la instrucción, iniciativa e interés por el servicio.
