DEBER DE DENUNCIAR. Todo habitante del territorio colombiano mayor de dieciséis años, con las excepciones establecidas en este Código, debe denunciar inmediatamente a la autoridad los hechos punibles de que tenga conocimiento y cuya investigación deba iniciarse de oficio. El empleado oficial que por cualquier medio tenga conocimiento de un hecho punible que deba investigarse de oficio, iniciará sin tardanza la investigación, si tuviere competencia para ello; en caso contrario, pondrá inmediatamente el hecho en conocimiento de la autoridad competente.
