Corresponderá al Fondo DRI fijar, con sujeción a las orientaciones del Ministerio de Agricultura, los lineamientos básicos de la política de desarrollo rural integrado a nivel nacional, así como promover y coordinar sistemas asociativos de pequeños productores y de comerciantes minoristas en zonas rurales y urbanas para la realización de programas de proveeduría de alimentos básicos y coordinar y cofinanciar programas de seguridad alimentaria a nivel nacional, seccional o local.
