Además de las funciones que viene atendiendo actualmente el servicio de auxiliares bachilleres de la policía, el Cuerpo Especial de Policía de Recreación y Deporte, atenderá la organización y realización de actividades deportivas, recreativas y de aprovechamiento del tiempo libre para la comunidad, operará en coordinación con el Sistema Nacional del Deporte en todos sus niveles jerárquicos y apoyará la ejecución del Plan Nacional del Deporte, la Recreación y la Educación Física, en los términos de la Ley 181 de 1995.
