En desarrollo del artículo 54 de la Ley 23 de 1981, la investigación terapéutica en humanos y en especial la aplicada a la infección por el Virus de Inmunodeficiencia Humana (VIH) y el Síndrome de Inmunodeficiencia Adquirida (SIDA), se sujetará a la Declaración de Helsinki dictada por la Asociación Médica Mundial, hasta tanto se expidan disposiciones legales especificas sobre la materia.
