El INPA, con base en las evidencias científicas disponibles y teniendo en cuenta la información y datos estadísticos confiables que posean las entidades públicas y privadas vinculadas a la actividad pesquera, así como factores socioeconómicos, determinará y autorizará periódicamente, mediante acuerdo le su Junta Directiva para cada tipo de pesquería, las temporadas, las zonas y los sistemas de pesca, y fijará el tamaño y tipo de embarcaciones, artes y aparejos, con el fin de no exceder las cuotas de captura permisible que se establezcan.
